Large, brightly colored and boldly patterned Berber rugs decorate the common areas, and ceramics by area artisans and oil paintings of regional subjects grace the walls. The hotel’s rooms are clean, handsome and simple; their biggest asset is the view. The pool is spacious, the bar inviting, and the buffet-style food is good. The highlight is leaning on the rail that overlooks the ancient, abandoned city of Tamerza framed by date palms. As late afternoon turns to evening and the ruins are slowly gilded, the breezes waft up the hill the plaintive songs of doves and the bells and bleating of goats being herded home. »
